The Hummingbird Centre DIY SOS with The Highfield Club

Who needs Nick Knowels from DIY SOS when we have David Gebbels, John Steptoe, Roger Honey and William HoneyThe Highfield Club.

Our "Boss Lady", could not believe it when the fridge decided to pack up on the hottest day of the year last year two days before a Coffee Morning when in walked Mr Gebbels, talk about Guardian Angel. He informed the "Boss Lady" that Highfields wanted to support The Hummingbird Centre and was there anything we needed, well you can imagine what she asked for …..Yep you've guessed it a FRIDGE.

A few days later he returned with a fridge asking did we need anything else, so she cheekily said is there anything you can do with our kitchen, he disappeared came back with 3 gentleman all equipped with tape measures, pads and a lot of chatter and disappeared, a few weeks later David called to say we can fix the kitchen.

23rd January 2016 one cold but bright weekend they all came back worked their magic turning our little kitchen into a very clean, organised and well equipped kitchen.

These guys gave up their weekend and their time turning the last room in our building into something special we just wished we had a photo of what it was like before they came along.

The words "Thank You" never seem enough – our "Boss Lady" very rarely cry's in public but on this occasion we caught her!!

Mechelle commented: “I always find it extremely humbling when the Community and local businesses pull together and support us the way that they do – The Hummingbird Centre is becoming a vital link to the People of Bicester and Surrounding Villages affected by Cancer, and very much part of the Community.”

Thursday, 28th January 2016, local bridal business Butterfly Bridal Boutique, Bicester celebrated their 5th Anniversary by holding a private party at VueCinema showing Mama Mia sponsored by Ben-Rob, Stack & Jones Accountants and Business Advisors, many local businesses sponsored the evening, in the names of Kit Batch 17 Bakes who provided the cakes, The Flower Shed Oxford, Tantrums N Tiaras provided the sparkle, Hayley Ruth Photography,Hair and Makeup by Debbie Mac, who worked her creative vintage magic on the wonderful models May,Vikki, Chelsea and Emily, Debbie volunteers at The Hummingbird Centre.
The idea behind the event was from Rachel the owner of Butterfly Bridal Boutique, Rachel and her team invited past and present brides to wear their wedding gowns for the evening, whilst guests had the opportunity to dress up in formal wear adding that extra glitz and glamour.

It was truly an amazing evening with the paparazzi and TV there interviewing
and taking photos.

All proceeds from the evening were donated to The Hummingbird Centre in the sum of £500.00, presented to Mechelle Harris, Founder of The Hummingbird Centre on the evening.

Mechelle commented: “It was such a lovely evening, I cannot thank Rachel and her team enough for what they did – it was their evening of celebrations yet they chose to support The Hummingbird Centre. Rachel and her team are truly amazing people I wish them all the very best for 2016”.
