Thanks to all Bicester Darts League players and associates for their efforts in raising £1000.00 for the Hummingbird Cancer and Therapy Centre at Launton. This was raised on the Exhibition Evening. (Thanks go to all of our sponsors, especially our main sponsors for that evening BICESTER RETAIL OUTLET CENTRE, HYDRAMEX, SPAREX and TRAVIS PERKINS.) To all who donated raffle prizes. Also on the Anniversary Cup evening, Money collected from selling football cards through the year and raising money on the Bicester & District Darts Association stall at the Hummingbird festival.

From the Committee Thanks

Every month a dedicated group of crafters meeting in Piddington designing an array of crafting items amongst friends, sharing skills and swapping ideas decided to pick a local charity for who they could support.

They came along to find out what The Hummingbird Centre was all about spoke to some of the team and our guests, they were so impressed by what they saw and heard it was decided there and then that they would support The Hummingbird Centre, earlier this year they presented Tracey Timms, Wednesday Team Leader with a cheque.

Throughout the year Ali and her team from Bicester Bean Café have supported The Hummingbird Centre in so many ways, from Cream Teas, The Big Breakfast Challenge, Fete, Baking Blackberry Pies the list is endless.

When she was asked why they supported The Hummingbird Centre she replied “They are just lush people who dedicated their time as volunteers, I just wish I has this for my Mum she would have loved it”

Bicester is so lucky to have The Hummingbird Centre. Mechelle and the volunteers have created a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for guests to visit, as part of an escape for those who suffer from or who are affected by cancer. We were lucky enough to be given a tour of the centre, including a sneak preview of their new room that is opening next Saturday for guests to use - you can really tell just how much effort has been put into creating such a wonderful place. Having had family and friends of our own as guests there, we understand how invaluable this organisation is. This is why we chose to fundraise for The Hummingbird.

Myself, Zoe and Molly coordinated a series of fundraisers within The Bicester School, raising £241 Sixth formers donated second-hand books and made cakes to sell at Open Evening events, also setting up online pages to collect donations. We would like to thank students for helping run the stalls, to our family and friends for donating and to Mechelle and the volunteers for running such an incredible organisation.”
