On October 4th, Leftie will row the distance of the English Channel – 33.3km (20 miles) on a rowing machine at BSC HQ.
Why?
Because his friend Graham Darby is living with lung cancer.
Because The Hummingbird Centre have been there for Graham and his family through it all.
And because Leftie knows the pain of watching someone you love go through this — he lost his wife Hayley to breast cancer in 2022.
Now, with just one working arm, he’s taking on this mammoth challenge to give something back.
And if you know Leftie, you won’t be surprised he’s doing it with a bit of humour and a whole lot of heart:
“What would every one-armed bloke do? Row 20 miles on a rowing machine, obviously!”
This isn’t just about raising money — it’s about showing up for friends, for family, and for the people who support us when it matters most.

More updates to come — but for now, let’s show Leftie, Graham, and The Hummingbird Centre we’re behind them.
