Join celebrated stage and screen actor David Bradley and find out about his extraordinary career, with plenty of shameless name-dropping along the way.
David has an award-winning stage and screen career spanning more than six decades; with some of his notable roles including Argus Filch in the Harry Potter film series, Walder Frey in fantasy series Game of Thrones, Our Life in the North, After Life and Broadchurch, for which he won British Academy Television Award for Best Supporting Actor. He has worked with some of the biggest names in the acting world and he also enjoys performing a little music and magic as well!
Taking place on Friday, March 20, at The Littlebury Hotel, Kings End, Bicester, all proceeds from ‘Music, Magic and Shameless Name-Dropping – An Evening with David Bradley’ will be donated to cancer support charity The Hummingbird Centre.
The award-winning actor will be interviewed by long-term friend Ian Critchley, who plays music alongside David and is a Trustee at The Hummingbird Centre. David will talk candidly about his life and career; will also perform some magic and the pair will close the evening singing a few songs that are important to David.
As a stage actor, David trained with the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, making his acting debut in 1968 in a RADA theatrical production of Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman. Four years later, he successfully auditioned for Laurence Olivier and spent several seasons with the National Theatre Company. In 1978, he became an alumnus of the Royal Shakespeare Company; later receiving a Laurence Olivier Award for his role in a production of King Lear.
Ian said: “The evening is in two parts – in the first half David and I, chat about his early life and career in the theatre and in early TV appearances. We then have a short break and the second half begins with David performing a few magic tricks, before we sit back down and discuss his career post 2000, including Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Dr Who, Afterlife etc. We finish singing a few songs that are relevant to David’s past or songs that he likes.
“We’ve done three of these evenings already to help raise money for different charities and I thought the people of Bicester would love get involved to both raise money for The Hummingbird Centre and find out more about David.”
The Hummingbird Centre founder Mechelle Harris said: “David has had a fantastically successful career which included some unmissable films and television shows. We are absolutely delighted that David is giving his time to help raise money for the centre. We can’t wait to attend this event.”
