Blackthorn Classic Car show was started in 2016 with a strong desire to bring something special to Blackthorn. We also wanted to raise money for local projects as well as contribute to charity. We decided that we wanted the money for charity to go to somewhere that we felt supported the local community and somewhere where we and car show visitors could see the difference their money made.
The Hummingbird Centre got our unanimous vote. We had and have heard the great work that the Hummingbird was and had been doing over the years and many of us knew people who had been helped by Mechelle Harris their Founder and the team.
Many of the local businesses we use for the show were also keen to contribute either through sponsorship or free use of equipment knowing that the Hummingbird Centre was our chosen charity to support.
Special thanks go to Three Corners Garage Ambrosden, Pete Goss Butchers, Nolan Oils, Tom Duff Accountancy and Lime Tree Farm Bed and Breakfast who sponsor us every year and the generosity of KJN Plant and Tool Hire who freely donate vital equipment to enable the event to run.
We were so pleased to have been able to donate to The Hummingbird Centre a substantial donation from the show, of which we know Mechelle will invest wisely to enable them to carry on providing the services that they do to so many people who have been impacted by cancer.
It was a great day for everyone and the Blackthorn Classic Car Show Committee would like to thank everyone who supported and attended our event.
