The Hummingbird Centre Launton gave me amazing support following the passing of my Mum to Cancer in 2013 . The encouragement of the volunteers is outstanding, the centre offers a wealth of activities and opportunities where those affected by cancer can ‘just be’ , process their journey and find some down time. The Hummingbird Centre Team were there for me in one of the darkest times of my life. Now I am in a far better place having received much needed support following loss and bereavement , never will I forget the words of the founder Mechelle Harris to me when I walked through those doors for the first time all those years ago “Take my hand hand and I won’t let go until you are ready” – Mechelle was true to those words & now I will be true to mine of my promise to give something back for all the time that was so willingly and freely given to me by The Hummingbird Centre Team.
Training has begun as I have set myself a challenge to walk/trek the Thames Path from Godstow Bridge Oxfordshire to Henley on Thames in memory of my Mum , covering a distance of 51 miles (82 km) in 2 days, beginning on Saturday 15th March 2025 and completing on Sunday 16th March 2025 , to raise smiles along the way I will add an element of fun and complete this challenge dressed up as a Hummingbird.
This will be an arduous challenge for me physically having undergone multiple knee surgeries following a severe cycling accident yet one that I know will be worthwhile completing as I work towards one of my biggest goals ever set , to raise funds for this amazing charity so they can continue to help the light of others begin to shine once again just as The Hummingbird Centre did mine.
Any donations toward my mission are extremely appreciated and gratefully received.
