Community invited to a day of winter wellbeing

As the nights start drawing in, a cancer support charity is offering a little warmth and wellbeing to help chase away the winter blues.

The Hummingbird Centre is hosting a Winter Wellbeing event on Saturday, October 24, from 11am to 3pm, at its base in Launton, near Bicester. The event is designed to bring people together for a relaxed and welcoming day, with Christmas stalls, complementary therapies, homemade cakes, refreshments and a raffle.

Visitors will be able to browse stalls selling seasonal gifts and treats as well as take part in the complementary therapies available including Reiki, Indian head massage and reflexology.

The Centre’s team will also be on hand throughout the day to chat to visitors, answer questions and explain more about the support and services available.

Centre Manager Zoe Draper said the event was building on the success of a similar wellbeing day in June. She said: “It was wonderful to see so many people come through the doors, and it gave us a great opportunity to raise awareness of the Centre, showcase the support available and bring people together. We felt that a winter event would be a lovely way to build on that success.

“The winter months can also be a particularly difficult time for people affected by cancer, so we wanted to create an event that focuses on wellbeing, connection and taking some time for yourself, while also bringing some Christmas cheer to the Centre. “We’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone and creating a warm, festive and enjoyable day.”

Refreshments, including homemade cakes, will be available throughout the day and visitors can also take part in a raffle. All money raised from the event will go towards the running costs of the Centre.

Zoe added: “At the Hummingbird Centre, we want people to know that they don’t have to go through cancer alone and that anyone who comes through our doors will be welcomed and supported.

“This event is about bringing people together, creating warmth and positivity through the winter months, and highlighting the support The Hummingbird Centre provides. We hope many people will join us and enjoy the day.”

The Winter Wellbeing event takes place on Saturday, October 24, from 11am to 3pm, at The Hummingbird Centre in Launton, near Bicester. Entry is free but there will be a small charge for the complementary therapies. Everyone is welcome.
