Welcome to Your Hummingbird Centre
The Hummingbird Centre is a really special place and was created on a promise that our Founder, Mechelle Harris made to her late father to make something positive out of their family’s loss, her “pop” had Leukaemia.
From incredibly humble beginnings of one room and a few volunteers, The Hummingbird Centre as grown into the wonderful place that it is today.
By creating a safe and confidential environment we have found that the guests of The Hummingbird Centre will open up about their journey as it affects everyone who are connected with that person both emotionally, physically and mentally. We will often say the medical world are there to try and fix you, we are here to support you.
It’s really important to remember that those who are diagnosed with cancer do survive to live a good life as well as live with cancer on a daily basis what is lacking is the mental support for those who are on this part of their journey. Those who have to cope with loss, bereavement, changes in their circumstances, and how they start to live their life without fear and accepting who they have become.
We do this is so many ways, we hope our brochure will give you a brief insight. We always say if you need something then always ask as we provide so much it’s not easy to put it all down.
Most of all though there is always a welcoming face, a cupper and a hug if needed.

We would like to be in a position to have our own “Forever Home” to either build or purchase.

To offer support to businesses within the local area to support any employees on a cancer journey. This would suit midsize companies without a HR department or to larger companies to offer/incorporate within wellbeing/mindfulness sessions.

To offer an out-reach programme into the local schools to help teachers and parents support a diagnosis or loss within a school.
Existing service
Continue to offer and improve the services we already offer - children’s, counselling, Lymphedema.
