As the new season tentatively approaches people may have one eye on spring cleaning their homes and gardens.
If you do, a Bicester charity is planning to make the job a little easier – The Hummingbird Centre is staging it’s first-ever table top sale.
Residents are being urged to declutter their homes and grab a table at the sale on Sunday, March 23, from 10am to 12pm at the Highfield Social Club, George Street, Bicester.
Tables cost £10 and entrance to the table top sale is £2 for shoppers, with all proceeds going to the cancer support centre, based in Launton, near Bicester, which supports people with cancer and their families across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire.
People can sell books, toys, bric-a-brac, unwanted gifts, clothes and shoes, sports equipment, household items – the list goes on. And because this event is being held indoors, there will be no issues with the weather.
The Hummingbird Centre Founder Mechelle Harris, said: “I’d never heard of such a thing until it was talked about with the guests at the centre and they suggested it. It’s something different and it’s the kind of thing anyone can attend, and not outside so we don’t have to worry about the weather.
The Hummingbird Centre Manager, Zoe Draper, said: “What’s great is that it’s supporting the work of The Hummingbird Centre and we’ve thrown an Easter Raffle into the mix. Best of all we’ve put Mechelle in the kitchen so all the chaos she causes will be behind the scenes and not on the door.”
The Hummingbird Centre Founder Mechelle Harris said: “Traditionally it’s the perfect time of year to get your home in order, to get rid of all that clutter and get ready for spring and summer.
“We would love as many people as possible to come along on the day, browse, shop, have a cuppa, say hello and hopefully grab a bargain.
“We also want to thank the Highfield Social Club for hosting us. They are long-time supporters of The Hummingbird Centre and over the years have help to raise thousands of pounds to support our important work.”
